Unsinkability

The unsinkability and watertight internal bulkhead structure of the Fountaine Pajot catamarans sailing and motorized, are the key elements of their safety. The unsinkability is ensured by volumes of foam positioned at the front and back ends of the hulls. The watertight bulkheads of each hull provide total insulation: even after an impact that can cause an infiltration, only the affected area is flooded while the boat can continue to navigate. For safety reasons, the "Skegs" fins are components completely separated from the hulls, a feature that preserves and protects the boat's hold in the event of a violent impact. Also, if this situation occurs, they are easier to repair or replace.

CONTROL STATION:

This innovative wheelhouse was created by Fountaine Pajot and has now become a reference standard for all catamarans.

The wheelhouse is equipped with a Plexiglas screen that provides two functions:

  1. Protection against splashes and wind;
  2. It can accommodate GPS, binoculars, cell phones, nautical charts or even a drink.

The wheelhouse is equipped with all the necessary electronic components combined into a single strategic unit. On sailing catamarans, mainsail and genoa catamarans can be reached while maintaining complete visibility on all areas of the catamaran; there is no need to duplicate the electronics and controls, they are in a protected area and away from the passage of guests.

Shock-Resistant Fins / Skegs

The choice of using fin keel on dinghies was made due to the following advantages:

  1. they are fixed and therefore do not require manipulation.
  2. in their position they give perfect protection to the transmissions of the engines, propellers, rudder blades and hulls in case of grounding.
  3. they are completely sealed and preserve the integrity of the ship.
  4. the absence of the fins housing means saving space inside
  5. thanks to their profiles studied in the wind tunnel, the fins offer excellent performance and do not generate turbulence or vibrations
  6. provide more flexibility to explore and anchor in shallow waters

Fountaine Pajot Motor Yachts - Double Engines

The two separate engines, each positioned in a hull, provide safety and peace of mind to the Shipowner if a boat hides water due to incorrect grounding or collision. This is a characteristic that is not possible in a single hull without the intervention of major engineering works. Twin Drive Twin motors provide another important guarantee of safety: each is completely independent of the other with its own electric circuit and tank. In case of failure of a circuit, the boat can continue to use the other engine. With engines and transmissions located far from living areas, the cruise is a comfortable and peaceful experience, with no exposure to engine odors.
